Lecture discussing physical activity and spinal cord injuries
Nipissing University welcomes Dr. Kathleen Martin Ginis and Rob Shaw to campus for a special presentation titled, Evidence-Based, Community-Engaged: Innovations in Physical Activity Promotion in the Spinal Cord Injury Community, on Tuesday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. at 100 Elements.
Dr. Martin Ginis is a professor of Health and Exercise Psychology in the department of Kinesiology at McMaster University. She is the Chair and principal investigator at the Canadian Disability Participation Project, and the founder and director of SCI Action Canada, a partnership of community-based organizations and university based researchers who have come together with the common goal of advancing physical activity participation among persons with spinal cord injuries.
Rob Shaw is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University. He is a graduate of Nipissing’s Bachelor of Physical Health and Education program and the recipient of Nipissing’s 2016 Rising Star Alumni Award. Shaw holds the Harry Lyman Hooker Senior Fellowship, and has earned Toronto Rehab’s Research Training Award for Students with Disabilities. Shaw is the 2015 Canadian National Wheelchair Tennis Champion.
