Employment Consultant / Workshop Facilitator

This individual will be responsible for providing customer service and support to clients in our Resource Centre

Job Title: 3.0 FTE - Employment Consultant / Workshop Facilitator

Reports to: Program Manager

Salary Grid: $57,606-$70,900

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a welcoming reception of clients into our services
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive environment for our diverse client groups
  • Coach job seekers in creating a career path and provide supports and tools needed to succeed
  • Complete eligibility assessments and guide clients to appropriate programs and services
  • Provide liaison and referrals to local organizations, agencies, and community partners
  • Perform administrative duties to support the Resource Centre's operations
  • Create and update resource materials to ensure they are well-maintained and easily accessible for clients/staff
  • Create and facilitate employment workshops on a variety of relevant topics
  • Assist clients and resource centre staff with MS Office applications, databases, spreadsheets, virtual workspaces/remote work platforms (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom), assistive technologies, online applications/browsing, and business equipment
  • Additional IT experience considered an asset: Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on computers, tablets, fax machines, photocopiers, and other standard office equipment
Qualifications:
  • University degree Social Sciences preferred
  • Over one year of experience working in a customer service environment or working with vulnerable populations
  • Relevant experience working in social sciences and/or providing employment services
  • Compassionate and empathetic individual
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively handle competing demands
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to work in a team setting, effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. MS Office applications, remote work platforms, assistive technologies) required – ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on office equipment an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
