Do I need to apply to graduate? How do I do so?

Individuals who apply to graduate for the April 1 deadline will receive their degree in the mail near the beginning of June.

Please ensure that your mailing address is up to date on WebAdvisor.

How do I schedule a session for graduation photography?

Our official graduation photographer LifeTouch will be on campus throughout the 2021/2022 academic year to capture your graduation milestone.

Can I borrow regalia for photos?

If you would like to borrow regalia for photos, please email convocation@nipissingu.ca.

How do I order a degree frame?

Degree frames are available for purchase all year and make great gifts!

Proudly display your degree with a custom Nipissing University degree frame. Proceeds from sales are used to support on-going student programs, scholarships and services through the Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board (NUAAB).

I received a Governor General Academic Award. When and how do I receive the award certificate?

Congratulations on receiving the Governor General’s Academic Medal.

The Governor General’s Medal, established in 1873, is one of the most prestigious awards that can be received by a student in a Canadian educational institution for exceptional academic achievement.

The Gold Medal is awarded to the graduate student who achieves the highest academic standing upon graduation from a graduate level.

The Silver Medal is awarded to the undergraduate student who achieves the highest academic standing upon graduation from a bachelor's degree program.

The certificate will be provided to the recipient during Convocation otherwise it will be sent to the recipient by mail.

I received a President’s Gold Medal. When and how do I receive the medal and award monies?

Congratulations on receiving the President’s Gold Medal.

The President’s Gold Medals are presented to a graduating student who attains the highest academic average in their degree program. Students must have a minimum of 80% overall average. Each recipient will receive a President’s Gold Medal and a cash award of $500.

The Financial Aid Office will credit the recipient’s account receivable on WebAdvisor. The funds can then be directly deposited into the recipient’s bank account.

The award will be provided to the recipient during Convocation, otherwise it will be sent to the recipient by mail.

I received a J.W. Trusler Proficiency Award. When and how do I receive the medal and award monies?

Congratulations on receiving the J.W. Trusler Proficiency Award.

The J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards are presented to graduating students, in each major. The recipients are chosen by the respective faculty of each major, primarily on the basis of academic achievement and/or excellence in practice teaching. Each student will receive a Bronze Medal and a cash award of $300.

You're now a member of the Alumni Association! What does this mean?

Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board

Your Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board (NUAAB) is an integral part of the University community. When you graduate from Nipissing University, you automatically become a lifetime member of the Nipissing University Alumni Association at no charge and part of a wide network of NU Alumni who are making an impact!

The NUAAB is guided by up to ten Nipissing University Alumni with additional student and community representation. The NUAAB has three main objectives:

  • supporting and advancing the cause of the University by strengthening its standards and reputation for academic excellence through dedication and financial generosity;
  • promoting interest and understanding of the Association's objectives among undergraduates of the University;
  • encouraging and promoting a sense of collegiality and unity among members and providing an opportunity to continue associations enjoyed as students.

Alumni Services include:

  • MBNA Canada MasterCard
  • Canada Life Alumni Insurance products and services
