Nipissing University is an accredited university with full membership in the Council of Ontario Universities (COU), the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

In December of 1992, Nipissing University was established under the Statutes of the Province of Ontario as a self-governing degree-granting institution, Nipissing University College was an affiliate of Laurentian University from 1967 to 1992.

NOTE: All courses completed prior to May 1993 will also appear on a Laurentian transcript.

SCHOLARSHIPS and AWARDS

President's Scholarships

President's Scholarships are awarded to incoming full-time students with a minimum 90% admittance average. Yearly renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%.

Chancellor’s Awards

Chancellor’s Awards are presented to incoming full-time students. Recipients must have a minimum 85% admittance average and show a high involvement in personal leadership activities. Yearly renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%.

Carl Sanders Scholarships

Carl Sanders Scholarships are awarded to incoming full-time students with an admission average of at least 80% and continuing full-time students who have attained a sessional average of 80% or higher.

FIRST Robotics Scholarships

FIRST Robotics Scholarships are awarded to incoming students who have participated on a high school FIRST Robotics Competition team within the last two years and who have a minimum 85% admission average. Annual renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%. ​

President's Gold Medals

President's Gold Medals are honour awards presented to the graduating students who attain the highest academic average in all courses in each degree program.

Governor General Academic Medals 

Governor General Academic Medals are awarded for academic excellence to the student graduating with the highest academic standing.  Gold is awarded at the graduate level and silver at the undergraduate level.

J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards 

J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards are presented to a graduating student in each major. Recipients are chosen by the respective faculty in each major, primarily on the basis of academic achievement. Students must have a minimum 80% overall average to qualify.
