HOURS OF WORK:Variable between 10 to 35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY:$14.56 to $17.99 /hour as determined by HR policy

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist the Project Directors with efforts to mobilize knowledge on best practices in enhancing institutional and community capacities for collaboration on promoting reconciliation and development across communities in Northeastern Ontario.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist in the analysis of discussions at community-based workshops
  • Assist in the design, implementation and analysis of surveys and/or interviews
  • Assist in the selection of research participants
  • Assist with the following:
    • Logistics arrangements for community-based workshops across northeastern Ontario (travel, catering, room bookings, accommodation, materials)
    • Communication liaison for community service provider network
    • Maintenance of research data
    • Arranging meeting space and taking/circulating minutes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate should have successfully completed, at least, Intermediate level courses at Nipissing University, preferably entering their third or fourth year of study.Preference will be given to Indigenous students.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently
  • Good time management and responsibility
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Familiarity with participatory action research or a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with decolonizing research principles
  • An understanding of the research ethics involved in working with and for Indigenous communities.
