Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships (for Admissions in the 2022-2023 Academic Year or Later)

Nearly 70% of our first year students receive entrance scholarships

Your final grades make a big difference. Scholarship averages are calculated using your best six final 4U/4M marks (or final IB score including bonus points) completed as of June 30, 2024. All Canadian and international applicants applying directly from secondary school for September/January^ entry will be considered automatically for guaranteed entrance scholarships – no application needed!

Notes:

  • Free tuition is based on domestic tuition rate.
  • Students are only eligible for the first four years of undergraduate study.
  • Students in their professional years of study are not eligible for the renewal of these scholarships.
  • This scholarship will not exceed the value of a student's Fall/Winter tuition fees.
  • t = Average based on the best six final 4U/4M courses (provincial or international equivalent) or final IB score (including bonus points).
  • * = Based on cumulative GPA (CGPA) as recorded on April 30th. Students must enroll in no less than 24 credits annually to retain scholarship eligibility.
  • Students who fail to meet the renewal requirements will move to a lower tier in accordance with their CGPA. Students cannot move up a tier.
  • Students who receive less than 80% will lose their scholarship and are unable to regain eligibility regardless of future CGPA.
  • Students may not simultaneously hold any of the following: Chancellor's Award, NU Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship, NU First Robotics Scholarship, President's Scholarship, Upper Year Carl Sanders Award or Schulich Scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for High School Applicants
Ontario secondary school applicants for full time admission will be considered ​automatically for our entrance scholarships based on their best six 4U/4M grades (or final IB score including bonus points) (exclu​​ding co-op courses) as of June 30. Conditional offers of scholarships will go out with offers of admission. Students must accept their offer of admission by the deadline date outlined in their offer letter to be considered automatically for these scholarships.  Scholarship eligibility will be reviewed once final grades are available June 30; additional offers may go out at that time or existing scholarship offers may be topped up or reversed based on new eligibility.  Emails confirming Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship eligibility will be sent to qualifying students in early August.  Scholarships are paid out in the fall/winter; students must be registered in a minimum 24 credits for the scholarship to be paid out.

Current high school applicants from other Canadian provinces are also eligible for scholarship consideration.

Eligibility Criteria for CEGEP Applicants
Applicants eligible for admission to the first year of an undergraduate program who are applying directly from the first year of a CEGEP program qualify for Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships.  The scholarship average for CEGEP applicants will be calculated on the final grades of their twelve best academic courses.

Other Applicants
Students who deferred or delayed their admission to Nipissing University by one year, but still with a September start to their studies, and without attending another post-secondary institution may be eligible for entrance scholarship consideration by contacting the Admissions Office at Admissions@nipissingu.ca.

^Students with a January start date, and enrolled in full-time studies, (i.e. 9 winter semester credits), will also be considered for the NU Entrance Award. The award payment will be deferred until the following September, and will follow the above table. All other award criteria apply.

​​NOTE:  Students in the upper year Concurrent Education program may only hold the scholarship in their first four years of study. This scholarship will not exceed the value of a student's Fall/Winter tuition fees. Students may not simultaneously hold any of the following: Chancellor's Award, NU Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship, NU First Robotics Scholarship, President's Scholarship, Upper Year Carl Sanders Award or Schulich Scholarship. Students in the Consecutive Education, College Partnership (Commerce and BBA) and Nursing Scholar Practitioner programs do not qualify for this scholarship.
