Nipissing to host inaugural fundraising gala benefitting students

Event will feature high-profile panel of women leaders hosted by Susan Hay

North Bay, ON – Nipissing University is getting set to host its inaugural fundraising gala, An Evening at Nipissing University: Together for Students, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, benefitting the Nipissing University Student Support Fund.

This marquee event, held at the R.J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre, represents the start of an annual tradition for members of the community to gather in support of a critical area of need at the University. This year’s area of need, the Student Support Fund, provides students with urgent financial assistance to help cover immediate, essential expenses as a result of an emergency. An Evening at Nipissing University will mark the culmination of fundraising efforts for the Student Support Fund which have been ongoing in the community since the fall.

In addition to an elegant cocktail hour, three course meal, and silent auction, attendees will be treated to an inspiring conversation among a panel of high-profile, women leaders discussing their career trajectories and leadership expertise, hosted by Global TV broadcaster and Nipissing University honorary degree recipient, Dr. Susan Hay. Panelists will include: Dr. Penny McIntyre, Corina Moore, Victoria Paine-Mantha, Cheryl Sutton, and the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould.

“We are thrilled to invite the community to experience a memorable evening at Nipissing that not only promises to inspire and entertain, but that will raise important funds and awareness for a vital area of need for students,” said Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor, Nipissing University. “Over the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Nipissing University Chancellor, Paul Cook, and a cabinet of dedicated and generous individuals to foster support for this Fund within the community. We look forward to building on this momentum at this year’s gala.”

“As representatives of the Nipissing University student body, NUSU is grateful to see the Nipissing University and broader community come together in support of such an important cause that provides students with assistance when they need it most,” said Harikesh Panchal, President, Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU).

Individual tickets are $150 and include an elegant cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, a three-course plated dinner, as well as a $100 charitable tax receipt. Tables of six are also available for purchase for $800.
